I spent too many years chasing a number on a scale. Trying to be smaller. Trying to take up less space. And I am done with that conversation — and I think you should be too.
Strong crushes skinny. Every single day. And in this episode I am making the case for why building strength — not shrinking your body — is the most powerful thing a woman over 40 can do for her health, her longevity, her confidence, and her life.

The Problem with Skinny as a Goal
Skinny is a size. Strong is a capability. And after 40, capability is everything. When you chase skinny, you often sacrifice the very muscle mass that protects your metabolism, your bones, your insulin sensitivity, and your independence as you age.
The women I see thriving in their 40s, 50s, and beyond are not the ones who weigh the least. They are the ones who can carry their groceries, hike a mountain, lift their grandkids, and feel powerful in their bodies. That is what we are building toward.
What Strong Actually Looks Like
Muscle mass
The single most important predictor of metabolic health, longevity, and quality of life as you age. You build it by lifting and eating enough protein.
Bone density
Resistance training is one of the most effective ways to maintain and build bone density — critical for women post-menopause.
Metabolic resilience
Muscle is metabolically active. More muscle means a higher resting metabolic rate and better blood sugar regulation.
Hormonal balance
Strength training supports estrogen metabolism, reduces cortisol, and improves insulin sensitivity — all of which shift dramatically in midlife.
Confidence
There is nothing like feeling physically capable. It changes how you carry yourself in every room you walk into.
The shift I want you to make
Stop asking "how do I get smaller?" and start asking "how do I get stronger?" The body that results from building strength — leaner, more defined, more energized — is far more sustainable and far more satisfying than anything you will achieve by restricting your way to a smaller size.
