We're doing something a little different for the season finale of The Real Dish — and honestly, I couldn't think of a better way to close out this season than this.
I went back and listened to every episode we recorded this season. And when I did, something clicked. Even though we covered everything from midlife identity and reinvention to gut health, menopause, peptides, muscle, courage, and travel — they were all really asking the same question:
"How do we build the strongest foundation for the next chapter of our lives?"
Because that's what this season has really been about. Not trying to turn back the clock. Not chasing who we used to be. And definitely not buying into the idea that our best years are behind us.
It's about becoming stronger, braver, and freer in this stage of life.
Your Midlife Greatest-Hits Mixtape
In this episode, Mareya pulls the best moments from five conversations that defined the season. Here's what we covered — and why it matters.
Peptides & the New Science of Aging
Dr. Aleksandra Gajer breaks down how peptides are changing the conversation around longevity, hormone health, and cellular repair — and what women over 40 need to know right now.
Travel as Transformation
Solo travel, small-group adventures, and self-guided journeys aren't just vacations — they're portals to a version of yourself you haven't met yet.
Reinvention After 50
You don't need anyone's permission to start over. Mareya explores why the greatest transformations begin the moment you decide you're ready — not when the timing is perfect.
Emotional Eating & Menopause
Dr. Deb Butler unpacks the hormonal and emotional roots of food cravings during perimenopause and menopause — and how to finally make peace with your plate.
Who Am I Now? Navigating Life's Biggest Transitions
From empty nests to identity shifts, Mareya gets personal about the midlife question that changes everything: who do you want to become in this next chapter?
The Through-Line: Build the Foundation
Every guest, every conversation, every vulnerable moment this season pointed to the same truth: midlife isn't a finish line. It's a launching pad.
Whether we were talking about the science of peptides and cellular repair, the emotional weight of an empty nest, or the courage it takes to book a solo trip to a country you've never been to — the message was always the same. You have to do the work to build the body, the mindset, and the life that can carry you into this next chapter.
And then? You have to actually go live it.
The Midlife Audit: What Still Belongs?
One of the most powerful threads running through this season was the idea of the Midlife Audit — taking an honest look at what still belongs in your life and what you're finally ready to release.
The roles that have defined us — mother, caretaker, people-pleaser, the one who holds it all together — they don't disappear overnight. But at some point, you have to ask: Is this still mine to carry? Or have I been holding on out of habit?
This season gave us permission to put some of that weight down. And I hope you felt that too.
The Physical Foundation: Your Body Is Carrying You There
We can't talk about reinvention without talking about the body doing the reinventing. This season we went deep on gut health and fiber, the hormonal chaos of perimenopause and menopause, the emerging science of peptides, and why protecting your muscle mass after 40 isn't vanity — it's survival.
Because here's the thing: you can have the most beautiful vision for your next chapter, but if you're running on empty — exhausted, inflamed, hormonally depleted — you won't have the energy to live it. Taking care of your body isn't a detour from your dreams. It is the path.
Now Go Live Your Forking Life
We ended this season where every good season should end — with a question about what comes next. Not in a scary way. In an exciting, wide-open, anything-is-possible way.
Now that we're doing all this work to feel good and stay strong — where do we want to go? What do we want to experience? How big are we willing to let this next chapter become?
That's the invitation of EP 170. Think of it as your midlife greatest-hits mixtape — six conversations, one bigger message:
"Build the foundation. Trust yourself. Take care of the body that's carrying you there. And then go LIVE your forking life."
Thank you for being here this season. Thank you for showing up for yourself. And I'll see you in the next chapter.
